I-80 Woodland Interchange

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 2-0
Bradford Township, PA

LDG was the prime engineering consultant for the I-80 Woodland Interchange Reconstruction Project, a multi-year, multi-discipline project for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 2-0. LDG provided preliminary and final design and construction services that included Bridge Design, Culvert Rehab Design, Highway Design, Right-of-Way Plans, Traffic Control Plan, DEP Waterway Permit, NPDES Permit, Incident Management Plan, Temporary Highway Lighting, and Waterline Relocation Design.

The $17 million project required replacement of the existing three-span east- and west-bound bridges over SR 970; adding a northbound left turn lane for SR 970; and rehabilitation of both a 507-ft existing concrete arch culvert under I-80 and concrete box culvert under SR 970. During construction, two lanes of traffic were maintained in each direction on I-80, a specific request from PennDOT to avoid traffic congestion, with a temporary bridge in the median.
