Accolades: LDG Achieves Network Specialty Designation from Global Leader in GIS Software

Through Accolades, LDG shares news of the awards, rankings, and professional achievements that recognize our people, our hard work, and our exceptional client service.

Pittsburgh, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, recently achieved a significant endorsement of its knowledge and experience from Esri, one of the world’s largest suppliers of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

The Network Management Specialty designation recognizes LDG’s expertise with network management capabilities for large utilities that use the ArcGIS enterprise environment, and our skill in delivering products and services using ArcGIS Utility Network. This includes building and customizing networks, establishing workflows and applications using the Utility Network dataset, and providing support and training to maintain its integrity.

Matt Kalcich, Project Manager on LDG’s Planning & GIS team, noted that the network is enormously beneficial for clients – offering enhanced workflows, standardized data, and enforcement of system rules that make editing and maintenance easier – and that LDG is a proven, trusted advisor to clients who need to navigate it.

“There is a giant shift in the utility space to leverage technology to make faster, more informed, data-driven decisions, and the utility network database model is set up for these dynamic challenges,” Matt said. “Attaining this specialty certification from Esri is proof of LDG’s expertise in guiding clients through the planning, strategy, utility network migration, implementation, and training necessary to realize their vision for managing complex systems.”

Crucial to LDG earning this companywide designation was LDG’s Theresa LaBuda, who had achieved her individual ArcGIS Utility Network Associate certification earlier this year. This reflects Theresa’s deep knowledge of the Esri Utility Network and her skill in helping clients assess, prepare data for, and successfully migrate to this more robust data model.

It has been obtained by fewer than 20 people across the United – a remarkable distinction, given the ubiquity of Esri software across the industry and its tens of thousands of daily users.

Theresa, a GIS Analyst with LDG’s Planning & GIS team, said she’s proud that the hard work of earning her certification is rewarding on both a personal and professional level.

“I feel very accomplished in being a key component to our companywide designation,” Theresa said. “This boosts my confidence in my professional abilities and validates my expertise in managing Utility Networks, while augmenting LDG’s comprehensive GIS services.”
