Great Lakes Cheese (GLC) has decided to develop an approximately 130-acre parcel north of the Village of Franklinville to construct an approximately 486,000 square foot cheese manufacturing and packaging facility. The facility is interested in obtaining water supply and fire protection from the Village of Franklinville water system. The facility is also interested in discharging domestic wastewater to the Village wastewater system. Significant capital improvements are needed to the Village water and wastewater systems to support utility needs associated with the development of the new GLC facility.
LDG will be undertaking these system improvement projects by providing preliminary design, final design, bidding and construction administration, and resident inspection services. For the Village water system, the project will include developing a new water supply well, constructing a second water storage tank, and upsizing and adding sections of water main to meet the needs of GLC. For wastewater, it is anticipated that the wastewater treatment plant has sufficient capacity to treat the domestic wastewater from GLC, but it is expected that a pump station and force main will be needed to convey domestic wastewater to the northern section of the Village’s wastewater collection system.
